“Sister Helen Prejean to address 2020 World Day Against the Death Penalty Event – 9/10/2020”.

Please see below an important message from our AACP Patron Stephen Keim

Dear Colleague,

This year, Australians Against Capital Punishment and the Julian Wagner Memorial Fund are holding their annual event to mark World Day Against the Death Penalty not in our usual manner of an in-person dinner but, to fit the times, by way of Zoom webinar.

The fabulous thing is that we will webcasting a recorded address (made for this event) by the famous Sister Helen Prejean, long time anti-death penalty activist author of Dead Man Walking, the book, and who was the character portrayed in the movie by Susan Sarandon.

Sister Helen’s lifelong work goes on unabated through her Ministry Against the Death Penalty out of New Orleans.

With the pandemic, of course, Sister Helen’s ability to raise funds by live speeches in the United States has been severely limited by the pandemic. As a result, AACP and JWMF have decided to take no money, ourselves, from our event and have chosen a fundraising target to raise $10,000 for Sister Helen’s ministry.

The webinar will go to air at 6.30 pm on Friday, 9 October 2020. The attached brochure carries the address at which to register for the event and details of the AACP account to which you can make your donation. For convenience, I reproduce them here:

To register for the event and receive your Zoom link go to https://events.humanitix.com/world-day-against-the-death-penalty-on-line-event

Please donate to the bank account of Australians Against Capital Punishment

Account Number: 134984681

Enquiries: contact@jwmf.com.au

I think this is a must not miss opportunity. I hope you can find your way clear to registering for the seminar and to making a donation.

And, in any event, if you could spread the word among your friends and relatives, that would be great.

Please find the attached flyer.

Best regards

Stephen
