IBAHRI calls for universal abolition of the death penalty

To mark the 19th World Day Against the Death Penalty, the Human Rights Institute of the International bar Association called for universal abolition of legalised killing; ratification of the Second optional Protocol to the Universal Covenant on Civil and Political Rights; and the end to discriminatory and disproportionate realities faced by women on death row.

The statement quoted Co-Chairs of the Institute, the Honourable Michael Kirby AC, CMG and Anne Ramberg Drjur hc.

The theme for this year’s World Day Against the Death Penalty which was marked on 10 Ocober 2021 is “Women on Death Row”.
